Big Plans & A Full Itinerary for Egypt

Just as in Jordan, our 12 days in Egypt will be busy and interesting. After flying from Amman to Cairo and checking into our hotel, we tour the ancient district of Cairo visiting the Alabaster Mosque, the Citadel, and the famous Egyptian Museum, the home of many important antiquities.

After Cairo, we take a short flight to Luxor where we board our ship waiting for us on the Nile River. We will begin the Nile cruise with a visit to the Temple of Karnak.

Sailing south up the Nile River, we stop to visit many sites important to the ancient Egyptians: the Temples of Luxor, Hathor, Hatshepsut, Kom Ombo, Isis, and Abu Simbel, plus several more including the Valley of the Kings, the home of the tomb of King Tutankhamun.

Eventually, we will reach the southern end of the cruise at the Aswan Dam where we will have afternoon tea at the Old Cataract Hotel, built for the British tourists and officials in 1899. This was the setting for Agatha Christie's mystery novel 'Death on the Nile.'

From Aswan, we turn north and sail back to Luxor, fly to Cairo, and visit the Great Sphinx and the Pyramids at Giza, before heading home after a dozen interesting days in this ancient country.

And Happy Valentine's Day!
